Beer Heaven at Dieu du Ciel

If you're tired of the generic bottles of domestic and import available at your favourite bar or restaurant, it's about time you made your way to Dieu du Ciel to experience what awaits you at the taps

Every city in the Canada deserves at least one outstanding microbrewery like Dieu du Ciel. However, most cities in Canada are not so lucky. If they’re lucky enough, they have a microbrewery filled with the tantalizing temptations of specialty beer but we doubt they’re so lucky as to have one as good as DDC. Dieu du Ciel outdoes other microbreweries by a landslide. Their beer selection is in constant fluctuation, so you’ll never get bored of the menu and they use a variety of ingredients.

The first trip to Dieu du Ciel is a strange one. You walk in and everything is overbearingly simple. It doesn’t seem special or outstanding with its carbon copy chairs, tables and simple walls with a piece of art scattered here and there. Yet, it is so comfortable. Even though there is little natural light and the tables are close together, you feel in your own world and at home. The chairs and tables are similar but they are all lovely wood pieces that create a classy, yet understated environment. The music is constantly good and diverse while always ranging on the outskirts of the more popular in the music world.

The servers are always fast, efficient and very friendly. They are happy to make any recommendations based on your tastes or you’re mood. Their menu offers 16 to 18 choices of beer constantly and the choices always change. They have their staples, of course like the delicious hoppy IPA, a spicy pepper beer, and usually a stout. A must-try option is their mystery beers. The mystery beers include a hibiscus white beer, a Ume and Shiso sour beer, a cocoa and vanilla stout, and many more.

The entire menu is on Dieu du Ciel’s website and gives descriptions of every beer which has been served and lets you know exactly what is currently being served. Our favourite would have to be DDC’s sour beers. The Symbiose no.1 is being served now and it is an assortment or symbiosis, if you will, of many sour beers. Delicious, fruity and refreshing, it’ll go down great with the warm weather now invading Montreal. Beware, though – we’ve never seen beers sell out faster at DDC than their sours. Get it fast!
