The Awesome Foundation for the Arts and Sciences (a.k.a. Awesome Calgary) is an “ever-growing, worldwide network of people devoted to forwarding the interest of awesomeness in the universe.” More specifically, it’s the product of 13 awesome people who pitch in $100 monthly to grant $1,000 to the most awesome idea submitted that month.
It all starts with something fantastic that can be achieved, or at least started, with $1,000. This amazing thing should benefit the city, the community, should help start a business or just be a great idea. Then, applicants develop their 60-second video pitch on why they deserve $1,000.
The ideas that make the short list are then invited to Pitch and Party Day to meet the “Awesome Team” and make a 90-second pitch with a Q & A. The idea that wows the most gets the cash.
Submission due date: 10th of each month
Notification Day: 3rd Thursday of month
Pitch and Party Day: 4th Thursday of each month
Pitch and Party Days are the 4th Thursday of the month, each time at a new location. Check out the Top 4 pitches along with the winner of the $1,000 prize – and take a moment to share in the awesome.
