Australian Model With Down Syndrome Will Walk the Catwalk at New York Fashion Week

Madeline Stuart is an 18-year-old Australian model with Down Syndrome who can already count an enviable number of achievements on her resume: she’s signed to a major modelling contract, has been cast as the face of several international campaigns, and is a social media star.

Oh, and she’ll also walk the catwalk at this September’s New York Fashion Week.

“It is with the utmost joy and pride that we announce Madeline Stuart’s participation in #FTLModa #NYFW #SS2016 presentation. Beautiful Madeline will brighten up the runway at the #VanderbiltHall on September 13th 2015,” announced luxe line FTL Moda on their Facebook page. FTL Moda made headlines last winter when their show featured models with various disabilities showcasing the brand’s latest collection.

Stuart will become just the second model to feature on the NYC catwalk after American Horror Storyactress Jamie Brewer did so in February.

“The world was ready,” said Maddy’s mother, Rosanne, in an interview with Cosmo. “This isn’t about us. It’s about fighting the fight for all the people out there that are a bit different that need to be loved.”

We can’t wait to see her strut her stuff.
