Attention, Vancouver Singles: First Dates Canada is Looking for You

With Valentine’s Day around the corner and Vancouver being a notoriously challenging city to find love, a new show is hoping to help you find ‘the one’.

First Dates Canada, a docu-reality series, is coming to Slice later this year. But first, they need a lot of single men and women willing to step up to the challenge of finding love on camera.

All you have to do is apply online.

The process is simple: just answer a few questions about what you’re looking for in a relationship, provide some basic information about yourself, and attach links to your social media profiles.

But here’s the twist: your friends can also nominate you.

You know that girlfriend or buddy you’re constantly complaining to about all the things that suck about dating in Vancouver? They might just send in an application for you.

If you’re selected, it won’t be as awkward or as publicly embarrassing as you think – or may have witnessed on some reality dating shows.

A restaurant in Vancouver is filled with singles and 40 remote-controlled cameras. There’s no one directing your on-camera abilities and no cameraman screaming “cut!”

As all the singles arrive for their first dates, strategically placed cameras hop around from date to date capturing the sparks (or lack thereof).

Given the number of complaints the Vancouver dating scene has warranted, if you’re still looking for that special someone, First Dates Canada might be your shot at love. Filming is right around the corner, beginning in March.

Here’s a peek at what you can expect:

There’s nothing wrong with trying something new when it comes to the dating game, right?
