Arie Benchetrit: Today’s Notable Young Entrepreneur

Today’s Notable Young Entrepreneur is M Salon Owner Arie Benchetrit, whose trendy nail and hair salon in Montreal’s Griffintown offers the full package for both men and women when it comes to hair, waxing, threading, nails and everything in between…

Elevator Pitch: Describe your job in a nutshell.
I am a hustler – I have always been an entrepreneur. My brother and I designed the entire place… painting, shelving; we even installed the floors and now I run the day to day. I am in charge of the salon myself so I hire my staff, train them, I book appointments, manage the books, and handle distribution and sales for our own nail polish gel called Maniglam.

Why did you start working at your company? What was the inspiration for this career route?
I was already on the path to perfecting Maniglam when the idea of the salon game to my head. Since I was already learning about polish and how to do nails myself (true story), having my own salon just fit my vision. It is also nice to have a full home for my polish, which is loved by my clients. I get first-hand feedback and colour suggestions from women for other women. It has been nice transition and flow to my work life.

What is the best part of what you do on a day-to-day basis? The most challenging part?
The best part is dealing with women all day. The most challenging part is dealing with women all day.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
EXPANSION. I am always trying to expand my brand, grow my business, push myself to new levels. That’s what life is all about. I see growth – mainly by more custom products and more locations. Although this is my first brick and mortar business, I have many more projects on the way. Stay tuned.

What does success look like to you?
Success is waking up every morning with a smile on your face, surrounded by good friends and family, with enough money in the bank to push you to make more. Happiness, ambition and success all lead to each other.

What is the most memorable milestone in your career?
The most memorable milestone was seeing the salon all finished. My brother and I had to gut the building and start from the ground up, so seeing it all done was a special moment for us. It is nice to be able to see our hard work every day.

Do you have any advice for other young professionals?
It’s time to hustle. Follow your gut. Make sacrifices.

What to you is notable?
Doing something that has been done before, but doing it better – that’s the mindset I have in my everyday life.

Blackberry, iPhone, Android, or Other?
iPhone.
