Apparently We Have Jennifer Lopez to Thank for Google Images Existing

Remember that stunning green Versace dress that J. Lo wore to The Grammys in 2000? 

Of course you do.

But what you might not know is that it was the original dress the Internet went crazy for. So much so that it alone is responsible for Google Images.

In a blog post for Project Syndicate, Google’s Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt said that Google Images was created because of J.Lo and the green Versace dress she wore to the 2000 Grammy Awards

And wear that dress, she definitely did.

Like wildfire, the Internet exploded with Google searches for another glimpse of J. Lo in the striking green gown. It was the most popular search query that Google had ever seen. 

All people wanted was a visual – but at the time, they couldn’t find one.

That’s when Google Images was born.

And we’ve only become more visual-focused ever since.

So basically, thanks to Jenny from the Block, we used to have a little and now we have a lot…
