Anton Kuerti Appassionata Sonata

“One of the truly great pianists of our time” (CD Review, London), Anton Kuerti has performed in recital and with leading orchestras and conductors across Canada and in nearly 40 other countries. The Austrian-born Canadian pianist, music teacher, composer, and conductor has received international recognition and numerous honourary doctorates, as well as founding the Festival of the Sound in Parry Sound, Ontario.

For this performance, Kuerti will play Beethoven’s magnificent Appassionata sonata.

The program will also feature Dvorak’s Piano Quintet for which Kuerti will be joined by the young, energetic, all-Canadian Afiara String Quartet. The .highly decorated Afiara placed second in the prestigious Banff International String Quartet Competition in 2010 and the Munich ADR Competition, and also won the Concert Artists Guild International Competition in New York in 2008
