An Evening of FringeFest

Need something notable to do in Calgary this weekend? The Calgary Fringe Festival will be wrapping up, and if you haven’t had a chance to check it out, venture down to Inglewood to catch one (or several) of the amazing shows.

The Fringe Festival has made its home in Inglewood, giving visitors the opportunity to walk from venue to venue and show to show. In addition to the festival and its great line-up, Inglewood is home to many of Calgary’s best restaurants and pubs.

Planning on checking out one of the evening showings? Make a full night of it.

Consider starting your evening with dinner at Sugo Cafe Italia, which is located in the heart of Inglewood and perfect walking distance to all of the festival’s many venues. Focused on “the great Italian tradition of hospitality and quality” Sugo offers a Peasant’s Dinner in addition to their regular menu. For $39, you get a starter, main and dessert; all of which use local ingredients. Pair the meal with one of the amazing bottles of wine from their cellar for a truly special evening. Sugo does take walk-ins, but it’s recommended to make a reservation on weekends.

The great thing about the Fringe is you can catch several shows in one evening. If you want to catch one of the 7pm showings, Sugo opens at 5pm, so an early dinner is definitely doable. Or spread your evening out and grab a glass of wine on a patio between shows.

After the show, there are a number of pubs located on Inglewood’s main strip (9 Ave SE), where you can indulge in a sociable nightcap.
