An Alcohol-Mist Art Exhibit Is Opening That Lets You Absorb Booze Through Your Eyelids and Lungs

If you’ve never been much of an art-lover, things are about to change – and we wouldn’t be surprised if this single-handedly created a fifth type of science-certified drunk

Alcoholic Architecture is a “walk-in cloud bar” that launches later this month in Borough Market, London. On the site of an ancient monastery (obviously), visitors can walk through a fully immersive alcohol environment with liquor clouds floating around them, as they gently soak booze into their bloodstreams through their lungs and eyeballs.

Until now, I don’t think I’ve ever heard of something that sounds like a glorious dream and a weird form of torture at the exact same time.

So you’re probably wondering: what are they serving??

Well, in line with the ancient theme suggested by its location, the drink list exclusively features the work of monks; liqueurs such as Bénédictine and Chartreuse, Buckfast tonic wine and authentic Trappist beer will be served misty, not stirred, through high-powered humidifiers generating 140% humidity and a spirit-to-mix ratio of 1:3.

Guests must be at least 18 years of age and are limited to one visit per day, or after 40 minutes in the exhibit, the equivalent of one “large alcoholic drink”.

Is it safe?

Maybe.

Visitors are provided special protective suits for their clothing and according to a representative from Bompas and Parr, the firm who designed the installation, they are “…working with respiratory scientists and chemists to calculate safe lengths of time that visitors can remain in the cloud.”

In other words, it’s the perfect spot for a quick power-nap.

Tickets are between 10 and 13 British Pounds ($20-26 CAD) and the exhibit is currently planned to run for about six months.

Cheers, and breathe responsibly.
