Amazon Launches Service That Will Deliver Booze to Your Front Door in an Hour

First thing’s first: this is not yet available in Canada.

But pending the usual delay of things that start in the U.S. and slowly expand North of the Border, it probably will be soon.

As of today, residents in Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, and Kirkland, Washington will be able to order tens of thousands of items from Amazon and have it delivered to their front door within an hour.

And yes, booze is one of those items.

The offering is part of Amazon’s Prime Now service, an annual membership program for $99 a year that blesses customers with unlimited free two-day shipping. The service currently available to Seattle-area residents now promises free two-hour delivery and a one-hour delivery option for $7.99 from 8am to midnight, seven days a week.

“Like with any product offering, we will evaluate customer response and if customers love the convenience of having alcohol delivered in under an hour right to their doors then we’ll look to expand the offering,” an Amazon spokesperson told BuzzFeed News when asked about other cities’ access to this privilege.

Orders can be made from Amazon’s Prime Now app, which will also notify binge-drinkers everywhere when this most enabling of services is available in their region.

Probably best to keep these people off the street anyway.
