Today’s Notable Young Professional is Ali Blasioli, who’s behind one of Canada’s most recognizable charity events. We caught up with her to find out where she loves to wine and dine and why working for Rethink Breast Cancer is the ideal career for her passions…

1. Describe what you do in less than 140 characters. Go.
In a nutshell, I plan really awesome parties for a really awesome cause.
2. What was the inspiration for your career route?
My career started off the in the fashion industry, but I always loved working in events. I attended Boobyball for many years, and loved the way Rethink was able to connect young people with the cause. When a spot opened up on their events team, I jumped on it.
3. What is the most memorable milestone in your career so far?
I would consider each Boobyball to be a mini milestone. It’s amazing to see how they bring people together. The funds raised from each event truly make a difference in the lives of young women with breast cancer; those are the moments I’ll remember most.
4. Where do you see yourself in 5 years, 10 years, 20 years?
Not sure yet. There’s an astrology reader coming to Boobyball this year, maybe I’ll ask?
5. Do you have any advice for other young professionals?
Most of the opportunities I’ve gotten in my career have been through friendly personal connections.
You get more bees with honey… so don’t be a jerk. No one wants to work with that person.
6. Do you support any charities? If so, which one(s) and why is it (or they) important to you?
Rethink Breast Cancer, of course.
7. What does the word notable mean to you?
Anything relevant, important or worth attention.

1. Where is your favourite place to wine/dine in your city and why?
Bar Raval. The food is definitely worth the fight for a table.
2. What’s the most visited website on your Internet browser?
Google. I have the strangest search history working in events, especially with this year’s Boobyball theme being Space… there were a lot of “DIY giant UFO” and “how to make a foil helmet”-type Googles.
3. Who’s one person you think everyone should be following on social media?
@girlwithnojob is pretty great….. and @Boobyball @rethinktweet, obviously!
4. What’s your favourite cocktail?
Vodka soda with cucumber
5. What gives you the greatest FOMO?
I’m actually an 85-year-old woman on the inside, so I don’t get FOMO very often. Unless I see someone eating something delicious on instagram… THEN I feel like I’m missing out.
6. What would be your last meal? And don’t hold back…
Anything freshly baked. I’ve never met a carb I didn’t like.
7. What’s your guiltiest pleasure?
Really terrible reality TV shows. I’ll preserve some of my dignity and won’t say which ones.
