Today’s Notable Young Entrepreneur is Alexandra Toulch, who launched Montreal-based video production agency City Regal with a goal to become a leading video production house in the city. What advice does she have for other young professionals? Find out in today’s profile…

Elevator Pitch: Describe your business in a nutshell.
City Regal is a Montreal-based video production agency that offers a hybrid of video services. We create cutting-edge videos specific to your individual and corporate needs. Our edge? We craft content from concept to delivery at an extremely affordable and competitive price. Since its official launch in 2011, City Regal has acquired some very reputable clients, such as: Browns Shoes, La Maison Ogilvy, Lancôme Canada, UGG Australia and many more. No matter what it is, City Regal has you covered.

Why did you start your business, what was the inspiration?
School just wasn’t cutting it. I knew I wanted to be involved in the entertainment world in some capacity, and needed to start experimenting. While I was in school, I started video blogging about Montreal hotspots. I began on camera, and after completing a couple of internships in L.A., I dreamt of becoming an entertainment reporter. But as soon as I purchased my first real video camera, and got behind it, I fell in love with the production side of it!

What is the best part of what you do on a day-to-day basis? The most challenging part?
For me, the best part and the most challenging part are the same; that is, staying consistently creative and innovative with every project I put my hands on. There is no better feeling than watching something that I’ve created and getting the client excited.

Where do you see your business going in five years?
In five years, I see City Regal being a leading video production house in Montreal – specializing in event coverage, behind the scenes and corporate videos. I want CR to be the go-to video enterprise for anything exciting happening in our city.

What does success look like to you?
I think success is achieved when what you have worked on becomes of value to someone else.

Do you have any advice for other young professionals?
Start young! Try as much as you can while you’re in school and during free summers. By doing so, you can at least eliminate what you don’t want to do with your life, and hopefully find what you love! When it’s time to find a career, you’ll know where to look (and you’ll have a head start over everyone else!)

Do you support any charities? If so, which one(s) and why is that important to you?
Absolutely. I have been a huge supporter of Fuck Cancer since its very first event in Montreal. I am also on the committee for Paws4aCause, an organization that raises money for the Montreal SPCA emergency shelter. I have also been involved in many different CJA events, as well.

What is Notable to you?
Notable is THE destination for anything happening in Canada – whether it’s a person, place or thing.

Blackberry, iPhone, Android, or Other?
iPhone!

How do you keep active, energetic, and vibrant?
I take the stairs. I make sure to get out, try new restaurants and bars, go to local events and do activities as much as I can!
