Good news out of the airline industry is few and far between – especially when it concerns passenger comfort.
Recent grievances include the fact that seats are getting smaller on average, companies will soon introduce a class lower than economy, and some airlines might force us to sit across from strangers on flights.
We’ve recently caught wind of a few and far between moment: Italian aviation brand Geven recently unveiled lie-flat seats at this week’s Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg. The design essentially turns an entire row of seats into a sofa, armrests that rise up and headrests that can be removed and used as an extension of the cushion.
Check it out:
The only catch? Flights would need to be considerably undersold to allow space for the seats to transform. Passengers could then book an entire row of seats at a reasonable price considering that they wouldn’t be sold otherwise anyway.
Air Asia X has signed a letter of intent to purchase the design, and the first installations are expected to roll out in October.
