A Vancouver Man is Offering a Piece of Paradise Unconditional Love For $0.00

Looking for a place to live?

How does infinite square footage with mountain and ocean views sound?

Sounds like our personal paradise. And it can all be yours for the low, low cost of $0.

Address: Earth, Solar System, Milky Way.

Over the past three years Vancouver resident Brice Royer, has been battling stomach cancer and posted the advertisement on Craigslist with the headline “I’m selling unconditional love for $0.00”.

A few days ago his ad reached 1,000,000 views.

“I received it a long time ago when I was born. I received the gift of life from my parents, the sun, the water, the Earth, the air, a smile, a hug, a helping hand, without being asked anything in return. I didn’t earn any of them. They belong to public domain, the commons…”

Last year Royer created a Facebook page in which members would give and receive things. The only stipulation – expect nothing in return.

Building off the notion that trading currency creates separation and loneliness –  reducing compassion and increasing stress levels that triggers tumor growth – Royer’s ultimate goal is to eventually transition out of the cash economy and into a “gift economy” as a preventative measure for group members to help lead more risk reductive lifestyles.
One of his biggest obstacles was finding someone who was willing to give him housing.

So he figured he ought to put his money where his mouth is and paid it forward.

On Facebook he offered to pay someone’s rent or mortgage.

And he did… a few times over.

“This is a big risk and cost on my part. But this may be the only way to start a discussion about our broken economic system.

What about you –  think you could pay it forward?
