A Quick Thinking Hostage Used the Pizza Hut App to Call 911 and Save Herself and Her Children

If you haven’t yet downloaded the Pizza Hut app, you should probably do so immediately.

For one mother, it meant the difference between life or death.

While most people use the chain’s app to order stuffed crust pizzas after a night at the bar, Cheryl Treadway used the comments section of her mobile order to let police know she and her children were being held hostage by a man with a knife.

The man was Treadway’s boyfriend, Ethan Nickerson, who’s hostage-taking was foiled when he carelessly allowed the woman to order a pizza via mobile during the ordeal. Pizza Hut employees saw “Please help. Get 911 to me” on the order’s receipt and took the matter seriously when they recognized that Treadway’s request was her regular order – a hand-tossed classic pizza with pepperoni.

Authorities were dispatched to both the Pizza Hut location and Treadway’s home, where they convinced Nickerson to release the hostages and eventually arrested him.

Now that’s what we call a good delivery.
