Housed within the city’s only five-diamond hotel, MARKET by Jean-Georges at the Shangri-La Vancouver has hosted many loyalists who love the contemporary restaurant. Though spacious, there’s always an intimate appeal – whether for special occasions, business meetings, or just to celeb-spot when Hollywood’s in town.
Now, Chef de Cuisine Montgomery Lau is introducing Express Lunch to ensure deliciousness is not sacrificed simply due to a lack of time. Chef Jean-Georges’ classic “greatest hits” will be in rotation using fresh locally produced ingredients to serve dishes that blend comfort and creativity. Express Lunch diners will have the option to choose from two or three-course options.
Sitting in the Alberni Room with the sunlight streaming in, we sampled the Cobb salad, lingcod, and cheesecake. (Cheesecake may or may not be a normal part of our midday meal – but it should be). Beware not to become attached, though – the Express Lunch menu will change weekly. But surpises of this quality are always a good thing.
We can’t think of a smarter offering for the young professionals on-the-go who want to whet their appetites with world-class cuisine. And since they promise to have you out the door in 30 minutes – sometimes faster – there isn’t a boss who could possibly disapprove.
This is what we call a power lunch.
