A New Instagram Account is Posting Pictures of Women on the TTC

Have you heard of @TTCWomen yet?

If you’re a decent looking female and a frequent “red rocket” rider, you may want to check out the Instagram account.

The account, which was launched earlier this month, features ‘beautiful’ women of all sorts riding the TTC. Beauty being in the eye of the camera holder of course.

In some shots, the women are smiling or hamming it up, very aware that they’re on camera, and likely eager for their fifteen minutes of social media fame.

But in others, it’s pretty obvious that the women have no clue at all that they’re being photographed.

The account is the creation of 31-year-old Toronto-based graphic designer Anis Litim, who insists that there is nothing offensive about the pictures or his account. He claims the account was inspired by the popular Instagram account @HotDudesReading and was the result of a booze-filled conversation with friends.

Which seems like a fair point. If we’re celebrating hotness, gender shouldn’t be the issue – consent should be.

Though Litim didn’t at the beginning, he now says that he will ensure that every female featured is a knowing participant. He also says that he’d like to post the names and Instagram handles of the women so that they can participate in the conversation.

Just don’t approach anyone in rush hour. Ever.
