A Massive New Entertainment Hub Will Open at Toronto’s Roundhouse Park Next Year

Cineplex announced today that they will bring The Rec Room, Canada’s new premier social destination, to downtown Toronto.

The 40,000-square foot dining and entertainment complex is the Rec Room’s third announced venue, which is first expected to open this spring in Edmonton, Alberta.

As reported by MarketWired, the destination will be located in Roundhouse Park, which is home to the Steam Whistle Brewery and across from the CN Tower, Ripley’s Aquarium, and Rogers Centre.

In addition to being a major draw for tourists, the site will also serve as a destination for corporate parties and group events.

Features of the Rec Room include:

– Upscale casual restaurant with open kitchen and contemporary Canadian style menu
– ‘Entertainment-style’ dining concepts in games area
– Bar area with massive high definition screen to watch Leafs, Raptors and Blue Jay’s games on the big screen
– Amusement games, interactive features attractions, pool, shuffleboard and ping-pong
– The latest in technology and gamification coupled with SCENE
– Auditorium-style space for live entertainment like comedy and music acts

Construction is slated to begin this summer and it is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2017.

Cineplex is planning to open several more Rec Room locations over the next few years.
