Yup, it has come to this: divorce selfies.
While some couples argue and avoid each other upon filing for a divorce, others take selfies together and post them on social media.
One Calgary couple’s #divorceselfie, taken in front of the Calgary Courts Centre in downtown Calgary after they had filed for divorce, has gone viral.
In the photo posted to Facebook, Shannon and Chris Neuman are all smiles for the smartphone. In the accompanying caption, the couple said they’re pleased they’re able to do “something extraordinary” and end their marriage “respectfully, thoughtfully and honourably” in a way that will allow them to “go forward as parenting partners for their children.”

“They’ll never have to wonder which side of the auditorium to run to after their Christmas concert or spring play, because we’ll be sitting together,” said Shannon on Facebook.
Apparently, things weren’t always so amicable.
“We have struggled, but we have succeeded in the plan we came up with together, to come out on the other side as their two parents who live in two houses who give them two teams to love them up two times as much,” she said.
“Now that you know it’s possible, please consider our way if you find yourself on this road,” she wrote. “It’s possible to love your kids more than you hate/distrust/dislike your ex.”
The photo, posted to Facebook on August 27, has already been shared almost 28,000 times.
