90s Sitcoms: Remember When?

We have recently found ourselves caught in a series of “remember when” conversations here at Notable.ca. We have become carried away with reminiscing about old TV shows, toys, songs and gadgets. We thought we’d share some of these things with our Notable.ca readers as a weekly Friday afternoon walk down memory lane, appropriately called Remember When?

Don’t ask how, but in the not-so-distant-past, we found ourselves singing the theme songs to a variety of 1990s sitcoms among some of our childhood friends in a nostalgic blast from the past mini jam session. We were surprised to discover that we all remembered the words to most of our favourites.

Now many years ago, those select weekday 1990s nights that were free from soccer, gymnastics, swimming, or our hobby of the month, we’d finish dinner, then run to the TV to catch a few sitcoms; and many YPs grew up with a the same few shows and characters.

See if you can match these opening lyrics from some of our favourite sitcoms past to the shows. Click on the appropriate links to see if you are correct. We have a feeling you may start singing out loud once you start…

Name the sitcom that the following lyrics belong to…

A)
Show me that smile again. (Show me that smile)
Don’t waste another minute on your cryin’.
We’re nowhere near the end (nowhere near)
The best is ready to begin.

B)
There’s a time for love and a time for living.
You take a chance and face the wind.
An open road and a road that’s hidden
A brand new life around the bend.

C)
What ever happened to predictability?
The milkman, the paperboy, evening TV.
Everywhere you look, everywhere you go (there’s a heart).
There’s a heart
A hand to hold onto.

D)
I bet we been together for a million years,
And I bet we’ll be together for a million more.
Oh, It’s like I started breathing on the night we kissed,
And I can’t remember what I ever did before.
What would we do baby, Without Us?
What would we do baby, Without Us?

E)
Don’t know about the future, that’s anybody’s guess.
Ain’t no good reason for getting all depressed.
Buy up your pad and pencil, I’ll give you a piece of my mind,
In my opinionation, the sun is gonna surely shine.

F)
When I wake up in the morning,
and the alarm gives out a warning,
I don’t think I’ll ever make it on time,
By the time I grab my books,
and I give myself a look
I’m at the corner just in time to see the bus fly by…

How old do you feel now? You have to admit, it does put you in a “feel good” mood on this cold afternoon. We apologize for any annoyance this may cause to friends, family or significant others over the weekend as at least one of these songs is bound to get stuck in your head.

Happy Weekend.
