9 Reasons the Holidays Are Better for Entrepreneurs

Chances are, entrepreneurs are handling the holidays better than the rest of us stuck in the 9-5 grind.

Don’t believe us?

Here are 9 reasons you should…

1. They’re Used to Multi-Tasking
If young professionals consider themselves busy during the year, they’re officially swamped during the holidays. With everything from attending and hosting holiday parties, to holiday shopping and travel, if there was ever a time to multi-task, it’s right now. Most entrepreneurs mastered the art of multi-tasking in the early days of their company, when they were doing everything all by themeselves.

2. They Can Holiday Shop During “Off” Times
Few things are more of a buzz kill to that warm fuzzy holiday feeling than jam-packed malls filled with impatient shoppers. But, because entrepreneurs make their own schedule, they can hit the stores during down times. This can make holiday shopping actually (gasp) enjoyable.

3. They Probably Give Cooler Gifts
For entrepreneurs, “generic” isn’t part of their vocabulary. That’s why everyone loves getting gifts from them – they know all the latest and greatest products and think outside of the box when it comes to gift giving.

4. They Don’t Have to Pretend to Work
Let’s be honest; very little work is being done in offices across the city at the moment. But most young professionals still have to pretend to look busy when the boss is around. But since entrepreneurs are their own boss…

5. They’re In Charge of the Holiday Party
Since they’re the ones calling the shots when it comes to the holiday party (even if it’s just them and five employees), they know it’s going to be nothing like the cheesy parties you remember from your days in the 9-5 corporate world. And they’re even likely to give their employees the morning off the next day.

6. They Can Play All the Holiday Music They Want in the Office
They can blast all their holiday favourites in the office…because nobody is going to tell them not to. Need some inspiration? Check out some of our favourites here.

7. They Don’t Have to Feel Guilty About Relaxing
There’s no such thing as a “day off” for most entrepreneurs – there’s always work to be done when you wear all hats. Plus, they’ve never been one to sit still. But for a few days over the holidays, everyone’s automatic replies are turned on. So they actually get to shamelessly relax for once.

8. They Won’t Be Disappointed With a Lower Holiday Bonus than Expected
Remember that holiday “bonus” that pretty much ruined Christmas in your corporate world days because it was much lower than you’d hoped for? Yeah, that won’t happen this year. For good or bad, they know exactly what to expect.

9. January Isn’t Depressing – It’s Exciting
Though the thought of returning to work in the dark depths of January can cast a dark cloud over the tail end of the holidays for most young professionals, as an entrepreneur, January can be their favourite time of the year. The New Year means new opportunities, fresh goals, and another year to grow their company even bigger. Bring it.
