8 Montreal North Shore Restaurants You Need to Discover

If you still didn’t know, Canada has some of the most notable restaurants in the country and Montreal is a big part of that list.

Our city has everything your foodie heart desires at any time of day.

But this post is not about the Montreal you frequent.

Welcome to the North Shore.

The suburbs are not all about white fences and shopping malls. The North Shore definitely knows a thing or two about good food and drinks. We did our research and we were pleasantly surprised with the gems we found lying beyond “the wall”.

Here are 8 Notable Restaurants on Montreal’s North Shore that you need to discover:

Le Boating Club
Le Boating Club’s kitchen uses nothing but local and seasonal product that is both fresh and sustainable making it one of our favourites in Laval. They also have a brunch menu on Sundays for Le Breakfast Club, which is totally worth the trek. Overall a great place to gather with friends, have tasty food, and take in the stunning atmosphere.

DEUX
Fresh off its one-year anniversary, the popular hang out in Vieux Ste. Therese has become the talk of the North Shore foodie world. The restaurant reminds us of an Italian nonna’s living room with a twist of modernism thrown in. Their beautiful terrace is perfect for an afternoon caffeine and snack while you people watch and bask in the sun.

L’Ardoise
Downtown Ste. Therese houses this magnificent restaurant where upon entering a huge chalkboard menu with over a dozen mouth-watering plates welcomes you. We highly suggest trying their salmon tartar, it might just be one of the best we’ve had. Did we mention they also have a terrace and food truck at the entrance?

A Maison
From the same guys that brought us L’Ardoise comes A Maison situated in the Blainville area of the North Shore. Their seafood mac & cheese platter for two is magic in your mouth, seriously. The cocktail list offers homemade syrups and fresh fruits making this an ideal summer hangout.

Boucher Double
Boucher Double is an all-new BYOB restaurant that made its debut in Auteuil Laval in late 2014. It’s run by the same fellas that brought Montrealers the likes of O’Thym, Monsieur B, Les Canailles, Smoking Vallee, Wellington, and Lannes & Pacifique et Balconville. This place specializes in French cuisine and aged steaks that truly melt in your mouth and keep you coming back for more.

Le Mitoyen
Open 35 years and still going strong, Le Mitoyen provides an intimate and refined dining experience like no other in Laval. The kitchen is run by Richard Bastien, who also owns Montreal’s legendary Lemeac and soon to open Monarque in Old Montreal. The vast wine list is all privately imported with a menu highlighting meats and seafood.

General Sherman
What once housed a massive nightclub has now transformed into North Shore’s premier food, drink and music destination. This new hotspot was the brainchild of the same guys that brought us Apt. 200 and Fitzoy in Montreal, so you know it’s going to be nothing short of a good time. Not only do they serve a massive list of bevies but they also conjure up comfort food plates for all you foodies, as well as an impressive new list of Sangrias for the summer.

Le Balthazar
Laval’s Centropolis complex is home to our favourite beer bar, but don’t be fooled, Le Balthazar has an impressive food menu that can satisfy even the pickiest foodie. Live music and a packed house is a regular thing here so prepare to have a good ole’ time. We highly suggest sitting back on their vast terrace and soaking up a few pints of their delicious micro brews.
