7 Fast Food Restaurants We REALLY Want to Open Up in Montreal

Every so often we all love to indulge our inner fat kid. Especially after a big night out, we always need our little fix.

But if you look at the fast food landscape in Montreal, it’s definitely lacking compared to some our neighbours – where you can find cherished fast food spots on every corner.

Let’s be honest, we don’t always want to spend a pretty penny on our daily meals – sometimes we just want to get down and dirty (and cheap) with our grub.

Which is why we wish these 7 fast food spots would hurry up and open in Montreal.

Shake Shack
We yearn for the day Shake Shack magically announces its grand opening in Montreal. Having been voted as the #1 fast food burger in the US, it’s no surprise Shake Shack made this list. Why is it so good? The quality is top of mind when creating every part of their famous burgers. The patties are made from 100 per cent all-natural Angus beef, with no hormones or antibiotics, all cuddled up between a warm baked grilled potato roll. Are we the only ones drooling?

Auntie Anne’s Pretzels
The iconic pretzel brand has been rumoured to be entering our city for years now. Best known for their pillow-y soft buttery pretzels and old fashioned home-made iced lemonade, Auntie Anne’s really raises the standards of snacking. We can’t wait to sink our teeth into these suckers – if they ever open, that is.

In-N-Out Burger
A fresh baked old-fashioned bun made from slow-rising sponge dough, two slices of American cheese, two all-beef patties, a freshly sliced or grilled onion, fresh and crispy hand-leafed lettuce, a plump and juicy tomato slice, and the original recipe for In-N-Out’s “spread”. Oh and don’t forget to make it “Animal-style” – it’s a must. Yup, In-N-Out Burger is the perfect blueprint for fast-food burger heaven and we wish it would expand into Montreal already.

Mary Browns
Canada’s best kept secret is Mary Browns. Hailing from Newfoundland, this fast food joint conjures up kick-ass marinated fried chicken. But surprisingly, that’s not the highlight of the menu – their potato taters and gravy are practically irresistible.

Millions of Milkshakes
With literally millions of variations for their milkshake bar in West Hollywood, Millions of Milkshakes has become one of the most publicized food and beverage brands in the world. Celebrity endorsements and cameos on the plethora of Kardashian brand TV shows have really brought this milkshake bar to trendy new heights. Montreal is definitely missing out on the milkshake game and we could use a milkshake place for our own. The cool factor of Millions of Milkshakes comes from the fact that they blend any of your favourite whole chocolate bars with their signature homemade ice cream to satisfy your sweet tooth. We would go back a million times….

Chipotle Mexican Grill
Montreal seems to be the only major city in Canada lacking in the burrito game. This is when Chipotle comes to mind. A build-your-own burrito franchise that has been winning over taste buds ever since its doors opened for business. Lots of imitators out there, but we don’t want to have to keep settling for second best.

Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen
Some finger lickin’ chicken with a side of mac & cheese and golden brown biscuits? We sure wish we were able to say that at a (so far non-existent) Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen in Montreal. It’s safe to say we are all over the KFCs of the world – we need our crispy fried chicken fix fulfilled in Montreal with a proper fast food chain…
