5 Reasons Why Taking Friday Afternoons Off in the Summer is a Must

It’s 2pm on a Friday in July and your productivity is at an all-time low.

You’ve given up on responding to emails and you’re already in weekend mode mentally.

Don’t worry, we get it.

No matter how much you love your job, when the sun is shining and that cool breeze is calling your name, the last place you want to be is at your desk. This is why letting employees have summer Friday afternoons off is one of the best perks a company an offer.

It’s also why we’re teaming up with Cabana Pool Bar this week to host our second Ditch Fridays event of the summer.

Need help convincing your boss to let you join us? Telling them about the following benefits will probably do the trick…

1. It makes you more productive.
If you’re just sitting at your desk trying to kill time until 5 o’clock hits, you’re not helping yourself or your employer. You would be much better off taking those few extra hours to get some R&R so you can go hard on Monday. Also, studies show that employees who have summer hours felt more productive as a result of this flexibility.

2. It helps boost creativity.
Sitting at the same place day in and day out can leave you feeling like you’re working on auto-pilot. While having a routine is great, sometimes you need a change of scenery to get those creative juices flowing. And who says you need to plan an expensive trip to get away from it all? Chilling on a sunny patio in the city can be just the kind of escape your brain needs.

3. It reduces stress.
Four words: no rush hour traffic. If that doesn’t have you breathing a sigh of relief already, I don’t know what will. On a different note, knowing that your manager trusts you enough to get your shit done, whether you’re in the office or chilling by the pool, can be a huge stress reliever in and of itself.

4. It promotes better work-life balance.
There’s a reason people call it the 9 to 5 grind. Working rigid, pre-set hours can often feel like a chore. The reality is that some people are more productive in the morning, while some hit their stride around mid-afternoon. Having more flexible work hours means you can really maximize your time both in and outside the office.

5. It makes you happier.
At the end of the day, more weekend is always a good thing. And if taking a half-day off on a Friday means working a little extra the rest of the week, most people would gladly make that trade. Lastly, if you use the extra time to get outside, soaking in some rays is a proven mood-booster.

So now that you’ve convinced your manager to let you take off early, join us July 15 for Ditch Fridays at Cabana Pool Bar. Grab some drinks, take in the incredible skyline #views, and chill to the beats of DJ Chris La Roque. Receive complimentary entry when you RSVP to the special Notable guest list here.

Bye bye, work stress, hello weekend.
