2014 Notable New Year’s Eve Guide Calgary

It’s two weeks before the end of the year; do you have a plan for your New Year’s Eve? Don’t be stuck without a party to ring in 2014 (as if that’s even an option). Here are the notable events young professionals in the city will be attending to toast another memorable year

Beat Matrix New Year’s Eve Gala
Inspired by the streets of New York, you are invited to the Metropolitan Conference Centre (333 4th Avenue SW) for a night with runway models, street performers and stage dancers to keep you entertained as you get into party mode. You’ll feel like you’re strolling through the boroughs of NYC as you take in graffiti artists, amusement parks and Broadway fun. The main room will feature hip-hop, R&B and appearances from Gummi, Bugsy Brown and DJ Shahin. You’ll also have a chance to participate in a silent auction. Tickets are $49.95 and last minute tickets are $74.95. Don’t procrastinate. Buy your tickets online here

Market Restaurant
One of Calgary’s hottest new restaurants is hosting a fabulous spread for New Year’s Eve. This new gem of a restaurant (718 17th Ave SW) makes terrific in-house charcuterie, homemade bread, and is the only eatery in the city to feature their very own internal garden. Chef Dave Bohati is cooking up five courses and there will be complimentary champagne served with dinner. There will be two seatings available (5:30 to 8:30pm and 9pm to 1am). You can look forward to special entertainment and a midnight celebration. To buy tickets, click here.

Eyes Wide Shut Masquerade
This is a New Year’s party with a bit of a twist and is sure to be the most interesting masquerade party of the year. Partygoers are in for a fun-filled evening of mystery, magic, games and speed dating at the Jack Singer Hall (205 8th Avenue SW). Singles will be given white roses and couples will be given red roses. Guests are free to mingle, enjoy the music of DJ Anthem and step into the side room to check out the speed dating section of the party. This is a classy affair that requires formal attire and masks, with prizes for the best costumes. You can purchase tickets at www.epcorcentre.org for $55.

Hotel Arts
There will be lots of festivities happening at Hotel Arts this year; the hard part will be picking and choosing the most notable. Yellow Door Bistro is hosting a five-course tasting menu. There will be two seatings for dinner: Seating #1 is between 5 and 5:30pm and seating #2 is between 8 and 8:30pm. The price of dinner is $75 with the option to add regular or premium wine pairings. To make a reservation, you can call 403-206-9585. The recently re-done Raw Bar is hosting an evening with food by chef Duncan Ly and Raw Bar’s legendary cocktails. You can secure your tickets here. The fun will start at 7:30pm and run until 2am. There will be entertainment and complimentary champagne at midnight.

Let’s get ready to party!
