2012 Vancouver Halloween Guide

We’re not sure about you, but we’ve got all things Halloween on the mind these days. Between doing a bit of pre-scouting for the perfect Halloween costume ideas, to perusing the perfect parties to attend around Vancouver, it’s been a ghoulishly good time. There are plenty of notable events taking place around town and we’ve rounded up our top picks to help get you in the spooky spirit between now and the 31st.

The Haunted Vancouver Trolley TourGear up for an old-fashioned trolley tour unlike any other you’ve been on. This trolley is decked out with cobwebs, skeletons, spiders and more to help flavour the occasion. Enjoy a two-hour tour of some of our city’s creepiest cemeteries and cruise over to the morgue and visit an old Native burial site – so haunted that the original building had to be torn down in an attempt to exorcise the stubborn spirits.

Fright Nights at the PNE – Always at the top of your list for annual Halloween outings, head to the PNE for Fright Nights, back and better than ever. Face your FEARs and test out your tolerance at the new FEAR haunted house, or enjoy some live, spook-infused entertainment before you head over to one of more than a dozen rides available. It’s the perfect way to awaken the ghoulish spirit within…

Dunbar Haunted HouseYou can’t get much more local than this…More than 7 years ago, a local family set out to create a memorable, community-oriented haunted house using their own home in the Dunbar area. Over the years, their creation (now known as The Dunbar Haunted House) has seriously upped the ante as one of Vancouver’s best gore-filled destinations. This year, the theme is Terror of History.

Secret Souls Walk and Dance PartyA longstanding Vancouver favourite and welcomed tradition, this community-party and parade always brings together Halloween creatives and costumed-revellers for a night of eerie fun that is guaranteed to get you into the ghoulish spirit – and it’s free.

An Evening in the Morgue at the Vancouver Police Museum – An eerie must-do that’s guaranteed to creep you out starts at this iconic city locale where more than 20,000 autopsies were performed. Dating back to the early 1930s, the Morgue was where it all ended (and began for unsettled spirits). Take in a graphically enhanced insider’s sneak peek of what goes on behind closed doors right from the city coroner. Not for the squeamish at heart: expect all the bloody details to be spilled – this is NOT for kids.
