18 of the Best Places to Pop the Question in Vancouver

Getting up the nerve to propose to your significant other can be challenging enough as it is.

And with the internet offering constant reminders of the elaborate lengths some partners go just to pop the question, planning the perfect Instagram-worthy moment can be a bit intimidating.

We already told you about Toronto and Montreal, but now it’s the west coast’s turn to take a knee. Here are 18 of the best places to pop the question in Vancouver.

All you need to do now is get the ring. (And find someone to ask…)

Engagement Rings Along English Bay:
It might seem a bit cliché, but what better place to pop the question than underneath two gigantic engagement rings? Located along the grassy slopes next to Sunset Beach, these 30-foot rings have become a popular backdrop for surprise proposals. With the dreamy sunset behind you and the sound of waves lapping at the shore, she has to say yes.

Steps of the Art Gallery:
If your significant other is into art, take her to see the exhibits at the Vancouver Art Gallery. If viewing the works of Emily Carr, Group of Seven and Mark Chagall doesn’t move your girl, presenting a beautiful engagement ring on the outdoor steps of the gallery most likely will.

Vancouver Teahouse:
Enjoy a romantic stroll through the park grounds as you make your way to the scenic lookout by the Teahouse. It is the perfect location to admire the setting sun and to present her with a dazzling ring.

UBC Rose Garden:
Fewer things could be more romantic than popping the question at a botanical rose garden.  The stunning views of the city paired with the tranquil smell of fresh flowers adds to the unforgettable experience.

Whistler Bungee Jump:
If you’re worried your gal might be hesitant about taking the plunge, pop the question at the edge of the 190-foot drop. She’ll be clinging to you so tightly she is bound to say yes.

Capilano Suspension Bridge:
What better place to bring two people together than the great outdoors. The mix of fresh air and instant rush of adrenalin will ease your nerves when it comes to proposing on a narrow bridge 70 metres above the rushing Capilano River.

Along the Seawall:
Doesn’t the old saying go something like couples who bike together, stay together? Well, even if it that isn’t actually a real saying, maybe in this situation it’s true. Go for a tandem bike ride along the Seawall and when you stop to take a break and your lady is taking in the scenery, get ready to get down on one knee.

Grouse Mountain:
Engagements on top of Grouse Mountain are perfect any season. In the winter you can spend the night ice skating followed by a romantic dinner at the Observatory restaurant. Or in the summer you can take in the incredible panoramic views of the city as the sun sets in the background.

Sea to Sky Gondola:
As you ride the gondola to the Summit Lodge you can see the lower mainland from a new perspective. Enjoy the ride up as you take in the breathtaking views of Howe Sound and the surrounding coastal forests and mountains. Once on top, visit one of the many lookout points for jaw-dropping views, leading up to the perfect moment to reach for your ring.

This is more of a seasonal location, but take your girl on a romantic date at the outdoor skating rink at Robson Square during the colder months. As you lap around the ice, pretend to fall and land on one knee, resulting in the perfect moment to pop the question.

Third Beach at Sunset:
A real Vancouverite knows that taking in a sunset at Third Beach is a truly romantic experience. Pack a picnic and bring along a bottle of champagne for a night you both will never forget.

If you want to have a proposal with a breathtaking view, book a dinner at Vancouver’s revolving restaurant, Cloud 9. With 360-degree views of the city, this is a perfect location to watch the sunset and enjoy a nice glass of wine. End the night by taking in the glimmering lights from the city skyline.

Romantic Helicopter Ride:
This requires a bit more planning and a bit of a bigger budget, but it will result in an unforgettable experience.  Prior to takeoff, have a friend write will you marry me? along the shores of Sunset Beach. Have the pilot fly overhead, so your girl can have the surprise of her life.
