16-Year-Old Boy From Manitoba Killed in Car Crash Helps 45 People by Donating Organs

Sixteen-year-old Tyler Klassen of Manitoba signed up to be an organ donor around the same time he received his driver’s license.

A few days later, he was critically injured in a car crash when he lost control of his vehicle. He was officially pronounced dead four days after the accident.

It’s a sad story with a heartfelt ending.

Tyler’s selfless decision to become an organ donor meant 45 people who are victims of everything from liver disease to kidney failure will benefit from his donation.

“Tyler is giving the gift of life to so many others by donating his organs so that THEY may have a second chance in life,” wrote family friend Doreen Dueck on a GoFundMe page to raise money for his funeral costs.

“Let’s return the gift and raise money to cover his resting costs.”

Dueck is especially grateful for Tyler’s initiative because her 11-year-old son suffers from kidney disease and will need a transplant in his lifetime.

“My reaction was what a hero for someone so young,” she said.
