13 Signs You’re Not Athletic

Well, we can’t all be good at everything.

Whether it’s math, direction or multi-tasking, we all have our weaknesses.

Especially when fellow young professionals (YPs) seem more active than ever, from running dates to baseball beer leagues, being athletically challenged isn’t always ideal.

But it’s something that can be worked on, or at least embraced. Here are 13 signs you’re negative athletic…

1. In middle school you were constantly in the bottom 3 to be selected by your classmates for sports teams.
And you understood why.

2. On that note, organized sports are your version of hell on earth.
Really, what could be worse than a group of athletic people bonding over being athletic?

3. Yes, you own workout clothes, but…
They’re two sizes too small, sitting in the back of your closet collecting dust.

4. You consider walking up a set of stairs good enough exercise for the day.
Two steps or 15 steps, it really doesn’t matter.

5. Becoming more athletic is often a New Year’s resolution of yours…
Because you never followed through the previous year.

6. When you see a soccer ball, your first thought is, will this hit me?
And because it’s you, the answer is most likely yes.

7. Your muscle definition is close to nothing.
The saying is, indeed, “skin and bones.” Not “skin and muscles.”

8. You know you should care about your lack of athleticism…
But you just can’t bring yourself to do it.

9. “Sports” and “anxiety” are two words you consider to be interchangeable.
The thought of sports in general makes you breathe heavily and your heartbeat quicken, kind of like… anxiety.

10. Going for a run is a thought that has never crossed your mind.
Who even runs these days?

11. The concept of “you’re supposed to sweat once a day” is really, really comedic. Or reserved for the bedroom.
“But if I sweat, I’ll be all sweaty…”

12. If you have the option of stairs or escalator, you obviously pick the escalator.
Stairs are for the weak. Somehow that train of thought make sense in your mind.

13. When someone asks if you play any sports, you respond with a slight laugh and leave it at that.
Is patio-hopping a sport? Yeah, just no.
