13 Signs You’re a People Person and Not Just Faking it

Are you really ‘such a people person,’ like you claim to be?

If so, most of these will be familiar (and your hundreds of friends likely share the sentiment).

Here are 13 signs you’re a true “people person.”

1. You genuinely love sitting at airport bars alone.
You never know who’s going to end up sitting solo beside you to chat with. Nothing wrong with making connections with people from across the globe, right?

2. The thought of working from home full-time makes you think of The Shining
Even the prospect of working in comfy sweatpants and not having your boss literally breathing down your neck won’t sway you to think otherwise.

3. Your local barista, grocery store check out person, and dry cleaner all know you by name.
And write you holiday, congratulatory and sympathy cards.

4. Sitting at home alone on a Friday or Saturday night gives you more serious anxiety than just FOMO.
Though you appreciate your down time as much as anyone else, the thought of ordering sushi and Netflix solo on a Friday or Saturday when everyone else is probably out is seriously depressing. Maybe it’s OK on a Tuesday…

5. You don’t have just one set group of friends… which makes your birthday gatherings quite interesting.
From your city’s movers and shakers to the hipsters and cookie-cutter couples who will soon move to suburbia, you’ve managed to make friends with a mixed bag of groups in your city. The high school and university friends haven’t gone anywhere either.

6. You find it really, really difficult to turn off your phone and disconnect.
If it isn’t the constant string of text message banter and phone calls with friends, it’s your need to keep up to date on the happenings of your friends via Facebook and Instagram – you could miss something good.

7. The term “third wheel” or “fifth wheel” is not in your vocabulary.
When it comes to your friends bringing another along who you’ve never met to dinner, your answer is always ‘yes’. By the same token, you have no problem being the third or fifth wheel at dinner with a couple or two… as long as they’re cool with it as well.

8. You get caught chatting with the salesperson way longer than you need to. About everything.
That shirt or pair of shoes you wanted for a first date that evening turns inevitably  into a conversation about dating and life. Don’t even get us started on your hairdresser.

9. Cold calling gives you a total rush.
And not the panic-inducing, nervous kind of rush. You actually see it as a social challenge and game of sorts.

10. When you travel, you always come home with more friends.
Which gives you more of an excuse to travel in the future; you have so many options in terms of couches and spare bedrooms to stay around the world.

11. Your co-workers aren’t just your co-workers.
They’re your best friends, borderline family.

12. You’ve been a bridesmaid or groomsman so many times you’re a pro.
And you have all the dresses and pocket squares you’ll never wear again to prove it.

13. Painfully shy people are the only ones who make you nervous.
Only because it’s seriously like pulling teeth. You are afraid you’ll break them with each question. And you’re really glad you’re not like them.

So, there you have it. Are you really a “people person” after all?
