11 of Toronto’s Best New Year’s Parties Under $50

Happy (almost) New Year’s Eve! If you’ve celebrated New Years in the past, you’ll know that it’s one of the busiest nights of the year.

Not only will Uber’s be almost impossible to get tonight (thank God for that free TTC!) but venues all over the world will be jammed packed with people and champagne. Anyone who goes out for New Year’s Eve will tell you that ticketed events can be super costly, sometimes upwards of $100! But not to worry, we’ve rounded up some of the best events Toronto has to offer that won’t cost you more than $50.

‘Tis The Season To Hit The Dance-floor

New Year’s and dancing go together like Santa and cookies. Murphy’s law will be kicking off the new year with a 90’s themed costume party. Your $40 ticket will get you light apps, throwback tunes and a chance at $100 if your retro gear is better than the rest. Hemmingway’s will ring in 2018 with a silent night – at least to anyone without headphones on. Their Rooftop Silent Disco is a super unique way to celebrate this year and will only set you back $22! If you’re really trying to find love in the club on New Year’s Eve, the King Street Club Crawl is a fun way to do it! Hop to 4 of King Street’s hottest clubs like Spice Route and Bloke all while skipping the line for a mere $30.

Bring in the New Year with laughs!

This year’s been a joke, so why not laugh at it? There are two great comedy shows happening this New Year’s Eve – Massey Hall’s Comedy Extravaganza, for as low as $40 a ticket and ‘Your ‘Hood’s A Joke!’ at the CAA theatre, where comedy all-stars will roast each other’s GTA hometowns at $50 a seat.

A concert New Year’s Eve!

If you’re a live music fan, a concert is a great way to ring in the New Year! Watch The Sadies at the iconic Horseshoe Tavern or Wintersleep at Lee’s Palace for under $30! Catch a fun folk-set packed with old-school classics at Free Times Café for $35! Or, ring in the New Year with Motown at the Modclub for $35! If you’re feeling adventurous and are really strapped for cash, you could even check out a bunch of punk bands at the Bovine for $12 – champagne toast and party favours included!

Make a run for it!

Trying to burn off those extra holiday calories? Party with the Midnite Runner’s this New Year’s Eve! This Midnite Run Party starts off as a 5km run through Liberty Village but ends in total fun as runners and non-runners celebrate together! You can choose to run, party, or run and party – though the party itself ranges from $20-40.

Celebrate in Nathan Philip’s Square!

There’s nothing more traditional – or fun – than ringing in New Year’s in Nathan Philip’s Square! Grab some friends and a pair of skates to enjoy an evening of music and fireworks with all of Toronto with a price tag you can’t beat – free!
