11 Fall Fashion Essentials for Women

Fall in Canada means you only have about two months to look hot while it gets cool.

With that in mind, we bring you 11 must-have fashion items for every young professional woman. From sweaters and button-downs, to turtlenecks and trousers, these are all the items you should be looking for this fall.

Time to get cozy.

1. Speckled Knit
Nothing is better than a cozy knit for fall and this season’s offerings come big, intricate, and in various silhouettes. Our favourite, however, is the speckled knit that gives you an effortlessly elegant look.

2. Chelsea Boot
This time-honored shoe has recently been seen on everyone from Victoria Beckham to Kylie Jenner and Alexa Chung. These boots were definitely made for walking.

3. White Blouse
Finding the perfect button up is a lot harder than it seems, so when you finally uncover one that doesn’t pull at the buttons, wrinkle before you’ve even put it on, and tucks in just right, stock up.

4. Black Trouser
A pair of high quality, black trousers are a necessity in every woman’s wardrobe. They pair perfectly with almost everything in your closet, are great for any occasion, and will never go out of style.

5. White Sneakers
Today, white sneakers can be worn with everything from black trousers, to dresses, to jeans. With the sports trend still prevailing on the runways, sneakers have remained the go-to footwear of choice.

6. Poncho Blankets
Transition into fall with this season’s hottest trend – the poncho blanket. Burberry even offers a custom version where model’s sported their initials on theirs.

7. Skirt Suit
Last Spring, women all over the world were suiting up, but this fall, every woman seems to be slipping on their skirts. Mixing masculine fabrics with feminine silhouettes creates a powerfully striking semblance.

8. Robe Coat
Women are taking sartorial tips from none other than Hugh Hefner this fall. Offered in various colours, lengths, and fabrics, the robe coat is making a major comeback.

9. Wide Brimmed Fedora
Taking another nod from the gentlemen, one of the biggest trends in accessorizing is with the wide-brimmed hat. More structured toppers give your look a polished and stylish finish.

10. The Turtleneck
The black turtleneck first became a trademark of the existentialists in the 50s who were rebelling away from traditional formal wear. After the 50s, it became a trademark for trendy elegance thanks to celebrities such as Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. Today, it still portrays a polished appearance.

11. 60s Shift Dress
The 60s stood out on the runways for fall and the most prevalent piece shown was definitely the shift dress. With high-necks, colour-blocking, and mid thigh length, this fuss free silhouette was displayed by designers such as Alexander Wang and Diane Von Furstenberg.
