Gili Trawangan, Indonesia
The largest of the three islands off of Lombok, this is a diver’s haven. There are dozens of dive shops on the island, but if you want the most out of a shorter trip, consider taking lessons before you get there. With great visibility, you can snorkel or free day, and spot turtles, fish and coral reef off the northwest coast.
San Pedro, Belize
This stunning paradise on the Eastern coast of Central America has strong Latin and Caribbean ties – but it’s the only country on the continent whose official language is English. Famed for its lush jungles, animals and deep sea fishing, you can snorkel and dive in the beautiful turquoise waters.
Cinque Terre, Italy
Known for its breathtaking seaside villages that cling to the coastline, this Italian region of Linguria is a charming spot for your honeymoon. Cinque Terre (or Five Lands) is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List and boasts some of the best hiking trails on the planet – and some pretty great seafood too.
Santorini, Greece
Sunset in Santorini may make you question going back home when your honeymoon nears an end. The volcanic island is known for its white buildings that hug the coastline, as well as its theatrical views and natural beaches. If you prefer to avoid the hordes of tourists, Theresia is a nearby island worth checking out.
Porto, Portugal
The port wine capital of the world is a coastal town in the north west of Portugal, so spend some time taking a tour and visiting one of the many wine caves. And don’t forget to take a cruise upriver to Pinhão, a picture perfect town famous for its amazing views and historic train station.

Kilkenny, Ireland
If Ireland is good enough for Kimye, then it’s a good enough honeymoon for you and your new spouse. Referred to as the Marble City for its black polished limestone, Kilkenny has medieval buildings, a castle and a bustling nightlife to boot, with plenty of cozy pubs where you can settle beside a roaring fireplace.
Ilha Grande, Brazil
This may have been what Arcade Fire were singing about when they said, “I know a place where no cars go.” But there are also no roads on Ilha Grande, meaning you can stroll around in complete tranquility. Lopes Mendes beach has to be seen to be believed. Watch out for monkeys on the way there.

Masai Mara, Kenya
Watch the Lion King come to life as you see animals up close and personal at this Kenyan safari location, home to the annual Wildebeest Migration. It is famous for its leopards, cheetahs, lions and gazelles – but hippos and crocodiles have also been spotted. Stay at a luxury safari lodge, eat candlelit dinners under the stars and hot air balloon over the Masai Mara.

Marrakesh, Morocco
Stay in a Riad (a Morroccan house with a courtyard) and haggle for a bargain or twelve in all the clamour and chaos of the souks – then relax and unwind in a hammam (steam room with massage and spa treatments). Enjoy food from one of the many street stalls or dine in and enjoy a delicious tagine.

Tofino, Canada
The grass isn’t always greener – you can take a Canada staycation. Enjoy whale watching, kayaking, surfing, hot springs, hiking and so much more on this small Vancouver Island district. With Cox Bay, Chesterman Beach and the Pacific Rim National Reserve to explore, it’s no wonder Neil Patrick Harris fell in love when he visited.
