After a few quiet years, the upscale neighbourhood is hot again in all of its gourmet food-filled glory.

One spot on every meat lover’s mind is the brand-new STK Toronto.

The highly anticipated upscale steak house began taking reservations this week.

Hollywood A-listers have already had a chance to indulge in some of the restaurant’s signature dishes during the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Famous faces to grace the spot included Jennifer Connelly, Ewan McGregor, Dakota Fanning (who we also partied with... well, kind of), Sandra Oh, Nick Cannon, Jonathan Demme, Anne Heche and Atom Egoyan.

Frequent travellers with a soft spot for red meat are likely familiar with STK’s carnivore-heavy culinary offerings thanks to the brand’s locations in major U.S. cities.

The menu features reimagined classic American cuisine, with favourites like bite-sized ‘Lil’ BRGs’ made with Wagyu beef, Lobster Mac & Cheese and, of course, mouthwatering steak that is totally worth breaking that diet for.

To top it off, Chef Tommy McHugh has been named STK Toronto’s Executive Chef.

Armed with training in London from some of the world’s most exceptional culinary minds – including the late Peter Kromberg at Le Souffle, Anton Mosimann, OBE, DL at The Belfry Club, Joël Robuchon at Joël Robuchon and Atelier and Eric Chavot at The Capital Hotel – Chef McHugh was the Chef de Cuisine at Splendido and the Sous Chef at both Nota Bene and Stock.

Most recently, he was Executive Chef at longtime Toronto staple Il Fornello.

“Having trained with some of the most demanding chefs in the world, I believe the standard of preparation should be exacting so that the dining experience is elevated,” said Chef McHugh. “Traditional recipes may be the foundation, but evolving them is my passion. I am really excited to be part of this incredible team and bring STK to life in Toronto.”
