These Are the World’s 10 Best Ice Rinks (4 Are in Canada)

We know what you’re thinking: nothing beats lacing up the skates and going for a rip out back on the lake.

While that’s quite magical in its own right, there are a whole lot of accoutrements that take skating to the next level. A Christmas tree, for example. Or a shimmering city skyline. Or sleighs, fire pits, VIP spots, restaurants, and plenty more.

Fairmont recently released a ranking of the world’s 10 best ice rinks, and we wouldn’t be Canada if we didn’t dominate the list.

Four of the top 10 are right here in our own backyard: Ottawa’s Rideau Canal, Toronto’s Nathan Phillips Square, Vancouver’s Grouse Mountain Skating Pond, and Alberta’s Lake Louise.

Road trip idea: The Great Canadian Ice Rink Tour.
