What’s Open on Christmas Day 2015 in Toronto

Christmas Day is the one day out of the year when most of the city closes up shop.

While the doors to many of your go-tos will remain closed on December 25, some will open in all their glory.

Here’s what’s open on Christmas Day:

TTC
The TTC service begins at 9am. Just a guess, but you’ll likely experience “slower than normal service” (so just like every other day).

GO Transit
For those suburban family dinner-goers, GO Transit will run on its Sunday schedule.

Movie Theatres
All local movie theatres remain open on Christmas Day – and there are some pretty great films out this year.

Andy Warhol: Stars of the Silver Screen
If you’re more interested in Andy Warhol than you are Santa Claus, hit Andy Warhol: Stars of the Silver Screen at the TIFF Bell Lightbox.

TIFF Bell Lightbox
The TIFF Bell Lightbox will run a variety of films throughout Christmas Day and evening.

Christmas Flower Show
If flowers are your thing, Allan Gardens’ Christmas Flower Show will continue on Christmas Day with 30 varieties of poinsettia, horse & wagon rides, Victorian carollers, and hot apple cider.

Public Skating Rinks
Most outdoor public skating rinks will remain open.

Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada
If the gifts aren’t enough to keep the kids entertained, or if you don’t celebrate Christmas, Ripley’s Aquarium is open 9:00am-6:00pm.

Select Shoppers Drug Mart locations
For those mild Christmas Day emergencies (whether it means running out of juice or needing a Band-Aid) select Shoppers Drug Mart locations will remain open.

Restaurants
If a home-cooked family meal isn’t in the cards on Christmas Day, an assortment of quality restaurants will remain open to ensure you don’t end up at a McDonald’s drive-thru.
