This Netflix Trick Will Make Sure You Get Suggestions You’ll Actually Like

If you’ve ever shared your Netflix account with a friend, then you know the kind of havoc they can wreak on your suggestions.

Case in point: now that I’m living with a male roommate, my preferences have shifted from “romantic comedies with a strong female lead” to a mixture of horror films, sci-fi shows, and obscure anime.

While I had resigned myself to a life of totally off-the-mark Netflix suggestions (a total first-world problem, so who am I to complain, really?), it turns out that there is a pretty simple hack for this.

All you need to do is log in to Netflix on a computer, go to “Your Account,” click on “Viewing History” at the bottom, and then delete any of the titles that you are screwing up your preferences (i.e stuff you watched that you didn’t like or that your friends watched on your account).

Brobible even created some handy-dandy screenshots of the process if you need a little extra help.

How easy is that? Now, I’ll admit, this is not so much a “hack” as it is a feature that Netflix has probably had forever, but we love the simplicity. I mean, if you can delete your internet browser history, why wouldn’t you be able to do the same with your Netflix account?

Now go forth and clean up that queue.
