The problem with a lot of workplace rankings is that they’re based on a variety of factors void of any human feel.
Sure, one company might score better because it has five times the number of Xbox consoles as the rest, but maybe their game selection is trash and therefore a trip to the office rec room isn’t all that satisfying for people.
Which is why Glassdoor’s 2017 Employees Choice Awards of Canada’s best places to work is all the more substantive.
Companies were ranked based on feedback on everything from benefits and salary to CEO approval and interviews from people who are actually out on the grind.
Previously unranked Shopify – whose incredible Montreal office we toured – claimed the top spot this year, wrestling the title away from last year’s winner, Earl’s Kitchen + Bar, which dropped all the way down to 21st.
Though the list should be taken with a grain of salt given Notable.ca was overlooked for the top 25, these are Canada’s best places to work in 2017:
