The Toronto Maple Leafs Are Unveiling a New Logo and Jersey Tomorrow

In honour of the Toronto Maple Leaf’s 100th birthday, the team is kicking off the big milestone by sprucing up its wardrobe.

This will mark a huge moment for the team, which is currently undergoing major rebranding (not to be confused with actually winning), and tomorrow the team will unveil a new team logo and jersey. The new uniform will debut tomorrow (February 2nd) at 9:30pm during episode five of the team’s all access program, The Leaf: Blueprint.

The team has remained fairly discreet on details of their new look, which has gone mostly untouched since 1970. The last notable change to the jersey was made in 2011, when the team made the alternate jersey a complete replica of the jerseys the Leafs wore during 1967-70. You know, that era when they actually won the Stanley Cup.

But other than minor changes the club’s logo has remained untouched for the last 45 years, according to Sportslogos.net.

It isn’t too common for an Original Six team to make any drastic changes to their original logos, so it’s pretty obvious the Leaf’s new look will be heavily scrutinized by fans and non-fans alike. Here’s to hoping the club gets the new logo as close to perfect as possible.

Perhaps a new uniform will be the spark that ignites the team’s fire and gives them a boost of confidence to improve their play this season. The Leafs currently have 43 points and are tied for last place in the eastern conference and the lowest total points in the entire NHL.
