Remember when music videos were on T.V.?
Well, nowadays YouTube is the place where people watch their music (apparently).
Reddit user /u/Dapianoman put together a list of the top 30 most viewed videos on YouTube and it turns out all but one of them is a music video. The list can be seen in this graph – with PSY’s dance club supersmash Gangnam Style coming in at #1 by a mile with just over 2.3 BILLION views.
As a list:

30. Ai Se Eu Te Pego – Michael Telo – 633 million
Clearly the list is bias towards recently released videos – ft. several hits by Katy Perry, TSwift, Bruno Mars and more. The total amount of views between just these 30 videos? 21 billion. Asssuming each video is roughly 4 minutes that makes for just about 160 thousand years of video watching. Yeah…people like Youtube. What’s crazy is that many of these videos are increasing by millions of views a day – this list is a few days old and already it’s falling behind.
For those interested, Dapianoman also put together a list of the top 20 non music-vidcos by views as well – which feature a lot of internet memories:
So if you find yourself with some spare time – well, here’s your chance to catch up on all things music and internet that you may have missed. Just try not to spend 160 thousand years watching.
