Spotify Will Soon Sync Music With Your Running Pace On-the-Go

Spotify is about to change the way you run – and the way you run is about to change Spotify.

With Spotify Running, in the ‘coming soon’ phase of release, you’ll no longer be held hostage by the tempo of your music. Rather, you’ll set the pace and the music will match your run.

The new feature uses your smartphones sensors to determine your pace and curates playlists on-the-go based on your listening history to synchronize the BPM to your every stride.

Spotify is also releasing playlists of ‘the world’s best running music’, which is in line with a shift towards listening preferences that are independent of genres. As Spotify founder Daniel Elk said during Spotify Running’s announcement, people are more likely to search for music by activity and experience.

Not only will the technology contribute to a more in-sync workout, it might also make you a better runner.

Several studies have revealed how aligning one’s music with running pace can improve overall performance through less wasted motion and by blocking out fatigue.

And don’t count out the #inspo either.
