Saks Fifth Avenue Opens First Canadian Flagship in Toronto

Get your credit cards ready ladies and gents, Saks Fifth Avenue has finally opened its doors in Toronto.

The U.S. luxury department store had a ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning to kick off the grand opening, marking Canada’s first Saks store.

The two-level flagship is located within the Hudson’s Bay Company’s flagship store is located in the heart of the city at Toronto’s Eaton Centre.

Recently acquired by the Hudson’s Bay Company, the luxury chain has 38 stores in the U.S. as well as five international locations.

It will be selling highly coveted clothing, handbags, perfume and jewelry from designers like Alexander Wang, Dolce & Gabbana, Balmain, Jimmy Choo, Valentino, and Elizabeth and James.

And despite Canada’s weakened economy, the retailer shows no signs of slowing down. The chain is set to open another location next week in suburban Etobicoke at Sherway Gardens. Five more stores are expected to open in other Canadian cities in the months and years to follow, CBC News reports.

Saks will be in good company in Toronto, of course, as Nordstrom is set to open up in the Eaton Centre this coming September.

So start saving your money now – Toronto is about to get way more stylish.
