Recap: Chef Meets Grape

We had the chance to attend the ultimate annual celebration that pairs top-notch BC VQA with exquisite Ocean Wise inspired dishes courtesy of various top-tier Vancouver restaurants as part of Chef Meets Grape.

With glass in-hand, we cruised the room in style, mingling with like-minded notables there to polish their palate whilst mixing a bit of networking in for good measure. We meandered between mouth-wateringly fabulous food and wine tables scattered throughout the venue (Vancouver’s new Convention Centre, next to the 2010 Olympic Torch instalment), candidly chatting with winemakers and proprietors alike.

This event brought together more than 75 different BC VQA wineries, allowing guests to sample nearly 250 different award-winning wines. In between sips, we managed to steal away to the Critics’ Choice Raw Bar for some freshly-shucked BC oysters and other culinary treats from the sea (can we say: plump and juicy pan-seared scallops…?) We may have snuck back for seconds (or was that thirds?)

All said, the 7th Annual Chef Meets Grape affair was indeed the perfect blend of all-things BC. Add to this, we felt pretty great about the fact that 10% of the evening’s ticket profits will directly benefit the Ocean Wise program.
