We knew we had the right guy when P.K. Subban not only won our Best in Sports and Fitness Notable Award, but also the Fusion Go Further Award.
The local hero, and Canadiens defenseman is known for his big heart when it comes to charity, and today he proved how dedicated he really is to a cause near his heart by donating $10 million to the Montreal Children’s Hospital.
This is the largest philanthropic donation by a sports figure in Canadian history.
Subban committed himself for the next seven years to help the hospital raise funds and has also become their spokesperson.
To show the star player their appreciation, the hospital has named its new atrium after him.
Aside from the donation, a fund dedicated to helping out families that are in financial distress due to a child’s illness has also been named “P.K’s Helping Hand”.
Go Habs go.
