Get Happier: 7 of the Best Happy Hours in Calgary

It’s the first day back to work, it’s winter, and we’re in a recession – but today we’re choosing to focus on the happier things in life. Like the best happy hours in town…

Happy Monday, Calgary.

Cibo
This city has its fill of good Italian restaurants, but Cibo is the spot for anyone who enjoys a casual atmosphere. And when the weather cooperates, this is also one of the best patios around.

Regardless of the season, you can enjoy $4 Mill Street beers on Monday (all day) and $5 signature cocktails on Tuesday (all day). When the week gets off to a rocky start, nobody here will judge you for ordering a round at 3pm.

Anejo
One of Mission’s favourite restaurants, we have Anejo to thank for teaching us that tequila doesn’t have to be a bad thing. With enough agave-based spirits to choke a mule, this stylish Mexican eatery’s bar top is one of the most desirable places to sit and imbibe.

From 3 to 5pm everyday, you can enjoy halfy hour (including drinks and snacks), and if you need a recommendation, the coconut chili lime margarita will turn your day around in a hurry.

80th and Ivy
Because it’s good to support local producers, anyone after an early week happy hour should head to 80th and Ivy for a Monday night special of $5 local pints and Tuesday night special of $6 glasses of wine. If anyone asks, just say you’re doing your part to support the economy.

The Libertine
This is one of the best places to grab a drink on Stephen Avenue, and their half price wine on Wednesdays is the perfect way to celebrate hump day. With the hashtag #bottomsup, you’ll feel like the weekend has arrived early.

Avec
Anyone who hasn’t yet experienced Avec, take note: this should be one of the first spots you consider for your next after work rendezvous.

This fabulous little French bistro has just introduced a brand new cocktail list and great deals for après work drinks. From 4:30 to 6pm every day of the week, you can enjoy cocktails made with love, wine, and classics like poutine to pair for just $7.

Not to mention, Champagne is 25% off.

Posto
Another Italian gem located in the Design District, off 8th Street SW, Posto’s specials are somewhat of a well-kept secret. Between 3 and 5pm you can take advantage of half-priced wine bottles, a great option for casual meetings with clients and a close walk from many downtown offices.

Posto has also introduced TV dinners on Saturday with $5 Phillips beers. Before you roll your eyes at this idea, we’re telling you this special is anything but lowbrow. With items like boar meatballs, kale salad, onion rings and cannoli on the menu, this is sure to be the classiest dinner you’ll ever eat off a tray.

Broken City
Far from fancy, it’s one of the best-known watering holes around; and from 2 to 6pm daily, you can rock out with indie happy hour specials, like pints of beer for $4.75 (including Steam Whistle, Village and Wild Rose). With beer this cheap, calories are the only thing that you’ll need to worry about counting.
