Facebook is Testing ‘Reactions’ Buttons That Communicate Sadness, Love, Anger, and More

Facebook is about to get a whole lot more Buzzfeed. And we’re not just talking about sharing more lists like ’34 Times Celebrity Men Gave Us Intense DILF Goals’.

No, this is much deeper than that.

Users may soon be able to express how they really feel about a particular post as Facebook begins testing ‘Love’, ‘Haha’, ‘Yay’, ‘Wow’, ‘Sad’ and ‘Angry’ buttons in Ireland and Spain. Mark Zuckerberg announced the new ‘Reactions’ buttons on his Facebook page while vaguely implying a ‘dislike’ button may not be released after all.

“Reactions gives you new ways to express love, awe, humor and sadness. It’s not a dislike button, but it does give you the power to easily express sorrow and empathy — in addition to delight and warmth,” wrote Zuckerberg. “Not every moment is a good moment, and sometimes you just want a way to express empathy. These are important moments where you need the power to share more than ever, and a Like might not be the best way to express yourself.”

Noble enough, but most people were really only concerned about the dislike button.

Amusingly, a recent study determined the most annoying Facebook posts that would warrant the use of a dislike button are those that brag about dieting and exercising.

Zuckerberg didn’t mention when or if the Reactions would be available in other regions.
