You can now get flights from NewLeaf Travel Co. for even cheaper.

Canada’s latest and greatest discount airline will let customers bid on unsold seats on flights.

NewLeaf is the first partner to sign on with Jump On Flyaways, an online bidding platform that allows flyers to bid on unsold plane tickets.

According to Jump On CEO Roger Jewitt, a lot of airline seats fly empty every year thanks to the complicated revenue management techniques employed by airlines to maximize their seat earnings.

Jump On will collect bids on the potentially unsold seats, and let the airlines consider the best bid. Jewitt says it’s possible that a person could be the only bidder on a particular seat and get the flight for $1.00.

The company’s website, however, states that air travel partners will consider “reasonable” bids and can decline them.

Jump On opened its online portal for NewLeaf’s 11 routes on July 19.

The travel company’s destinations include Saskatoon, Regina, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Abbotsford, Hamilton, Halifax, Kamloops, Moncton, Kelowna and Victoria.
