And what better way to get inspiration for the chilly months ahead than from some of Canada’s best dressed?

So we’ve searched Instagram for Canada’s most notable stylists, fashionistas, and well-dressed dudes to see what they’re wearing in 2016 and we gotta say, we’re pretty excited to get shopping…

Over The Knee Boots
Over the knee boots have often been compared to the boots worn by Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman and have received mixed reviews. But they’re making a comeback – and for good reason. They not only keep your legs warm during the chillier months; but they instantly add sexiness to any outfit, as Vanessa Cesario from the Brunette Salad so easily demonstrates.

Statement Purse
Just because the weather outside is dark and gloomy doesn’t mean your outfits need to look the same. Adding some colour into your wardrobe is a great way to beat the winter blues. Enter the statement bag. Make a statement in 2016 with a bold purse that doesn’t shy away from colour.

Hats
Winter might not be the easiest season to dress for as it requires constant layering and bundling. So when your outfit is lacking some lustre, adding a hat to your look is the simplest way to breathe new life into your winter outfits. Alanna Durkovich, of Xander Vintage is the queen of statement looks and she always looks the part by adding a statement hat to her outfits.

Ankle Boots
Ankle booties are big for the winter months for a number of reasons, not least of which is that they’re high enough take on the harsh winter elements (without being huge) while still keeping your feet warm. Another plus is that the heel is low enough that you’re still able to show off some leg.

Pom Pom Touques

Touques are a Canadian winter must have. Obviously. But try wearing one with a large pom pom like Stefanie Sterjovski for some added glam.

Cozy Sweaters

Cozy sweaters and turtlenecks are definitly a Canadian winter wardrobe must, even if you don’t live in a snowy city. Pair a chunky knit sweater with a long skirt or distressed jeans like Jillian Harris for a simple winter look.

Oversized Scarfs
One Canadian blogger stands out amongst the crowd for always looking cozy yet fashionable in whatever she wears. (Living in Alberta certainly doesn’t hurt her winter-fashion expertise.) Eleni Mcmullin from Convey the Moment knows how to rock an oversized scarf and still make it look cute, something we should all take note of.

Camel Jackets

A classic camel coat is the perfect addition to any outfit because it’s insanely stylish and its neutral shade can pair with literally anything in your wardrobe, from distressed jeans to a little black dress.
