Brick: Headliner for NBA All-Star Game in Toronto Isn’t Drake, Canadian, or Even Relevant

John Oliver, in a segment about net neutrality, once quipped, “The only two words that promise more boredom in the English language are: ‘featuring Sting’.”

He is, of course, correct.

So why did you do this to us, NBA?

Indeed, the 16-time Grammy winner who otherwise bears no relevance to Toronto, the sport of basketball, or its fans will headline the NBA All-Star game halftime show at the Air Canada Centre on February 14th.

Is it too late to beg Kanye to come back? Shouldn’t Drake, as the Raptors’ official ambassador, at least drop a few bars? Hell, we’ll settle for Nickelback at this point. (Sorry, we take that back.)

Somewhat redeeming is that Montreal’s beloved Cirque du Soleil will kick off the evening before things get questionable by halftime.

On a weekend when the whole world will be watching, how did a 64-year-old British bassist get this gig? We don’t know about you but we’re currently sending out an S.O.S. to the world…
