Brava Bistro

We haven’t tasted every single one (although we’d be up for the challenge), but we’re pretty sure Brava Bistro makes the best dirty gin martini in the city. Slide on up to a seat at the bar and try one yourself.

Brava Bistro is home to some of Calgary’s now-favourite dishes, like the Lebanese Chopped Salad and Lobster Poutine. At first glance, it’s not easy to see why the Lobster Poutine is such a crowd pleaser, but once you start to dig in, this delectable dish reveals itself to be a rich and buttery delight. The sauce is a creamy seafood base that is similar to the butter sauce that traditionally accompanies lobster. The same famous cream can also be found on the Lobster Gnocchi, another Brava Bistro favourite. The Lebanese Chopped Salad stands out on the menu because it’s such a unique combination of ingredients – think a shawarma salad sans meat, satisfying enough to be eaten as an entrée. However if you’re looking for something a little more substantial, the red wine braised Spring Creek Rand Beef Short Rib with broccoflower and aged cheddar mac and cheese will quash any hungry rumblings you might have.

The dessert offerings are unique enough that it would be worth a trip to Brava Bistro just for a few cocktails and some sweet treats with a date. With indulgences such as Red Wine Poached Pears with cinnamon ice cream, Chocolate Pot de Crème, Warm Gingerbread Cake with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice cream, and Crème Brulee with lavender shortbread, everyone is sure to find something to tempt them.

With quality drinks, interesting food and a relaxed, quiet environment, Brava Bistro is a must-try Calgary restaurant. Brava Bistro, 723 17th Ave SW, Calgary, 403-229-1854.
